Petroleum & Resources

Petroleum & Resources (PEO) is a closed-end equity investment company which capitalizes on the energy and natural resources companies. It is managed by the Adams Express Company and is mainly responsible for the preservation of capital, the attainment of a reasonable income and providing opportunity for capital appreciation. Aside from all these, the company also boasts of a very low turnover rate for its employees.

Since its formation in 1929, PEO has a very unique and exhilarating history. It had its high and low points in its history, which in turn, made the company what it is right now—established and disposed for productive investments. It suffered during the Depression but it has survived this period of our history. In fact, it is one of the forty-six trust funds to suffer then but is one of the six to remain alive today.
As of 2008, the company has a total net assets of $1,137,884,349. It has great value holdings in the sectors of Oil and Gas, Utilities, Basic Materials and Industrials. Its stock pricing has been placed at the rate of $35.45 per share. Its prices has remained at that range and may be predicted by most stock trading software to stay afloat at that. Although the market for closed-end funds have been at a sway before, PEO, with its focus on the energy sector, has remained firm and established. Investing in PEO should not take second thoughts from any one.
With a very diversified type of fund such as PEO, one needs to take a very crucial and analytical look when deciding to invest in it. Although many advantages have been associated with a closed-end company such as PEO, there are disadvantages, too. The more prominent of which is the absence of constant flow of cash or money. With this, one can not assume that his finances would multiply.
